This year has certainly started with a bang! One of my Christmas presents was sky diving, and after a few false starts (because of strong winds), I finally got to jump in January!
It was an incredible experience, and not just the jump itself, but also the mental preparation. Whenever anyone talks about sky diving, there is this idea that you’d have to be insane to do it – why would anyone in their right mind jump out of a perfectly good plane? The thing is, with all the checks and safety precautions that the sky diving provider goes through, you’d have to be pretty unlucky for something to go wrong.
I have to admit that when I first found out I was going to go sky diving, I was a little apprehensive (even though it’s something I’ve always wanted to do). But, the closer the date came, the calmer I was and in the end I was really excited about jumping. As we went up tot he 14,000ft I felt completely at peace and enjoyed every moment of the experience – the view was spectacular, and when the door opened and that cool air wafted in it was very refreshing!
There was also some cloud cover that day, which made the view even more beautiful. The free fall was fabulous, and once the shoot opened and the noise dissipated, I felt like a bird!
Here are some photos to chronicle the experience:
If you’ve ever wanted to go sky diving – I HIGHLY recommend it!
